A design graduate from The London College Of Fashion, Noble worked as a stylist and costume designer. As an exhibiting artist and illustrator his art work has partnered him with leading magazines and companies such as ON|OFF Fashion week, Fashion Monitor, HERCULES and WOUND Magazine to name a few. Alex Noble has been the curator for East London’s cultural centre the Dalston Superstore for the last year and a half and seen his artistry exhibited around the world from Shanghai to Brussels. Alex was commissioned to create a twelve piece illustration for the Trajector Art Fair in Brussels, commenting on ‘that certain tension between fashion and art’. In Shanghai his art work for the record label and East London club night Batty Bass was exhibited as part of the ‘Cultural History’ exhibitions which also took his work to a large exhibition at Selfridges . Madrid was the setting for Hercules Magazines exhibition devoted to Pedro Almodovar for which Alex Noble was commissioned to produce imagery of Almodovar’s favorite actresses; this exhibition also saw contributions from Tom Ford and Jean Paul Gaultier.
In the last 18 months Alex Noble’s fashion career rocketed sky ward after his first commission from fashion editor and creative director Nicola Formichetti to customize denim for Gisele Bundchen and V magazine. And of course developed to his prolific work for Lady GaGa., where Noble was responsible for the unforgettable red bandage outfit for the ‘Bad Romance’ video, the breathtaking white lace body suit for the 2010 Brit awards and many other pieces seen on the VMA’s and the ‘Monsters Ball Tour’.
AlexNoble’s Brit awards design will go into Madam Tussauds later this year, cementing its place in Fashion history.
These commissions have given Alex Noble much exposure and his name has grown immensely in this time, resulting in Alex Noble being an in demand one off designer for stylists like Patti Wilson, commissioning him for Italian Vogue.
Working alongside great names like Lady Ga Ga, Alex Noble has kept his client list small and exclusive, which also means he has been able to pick out artists he admires like Florence Welch and propose to work with them. For Florence he created her ethereal winged play suit for Lattitude festival this summer.
Currently Alex works solely on commission, creating tailor made one off pieces for artists, stage, film and private clients.
Alex Noble has a strong yet versatile aesthetic and his seductive rebellious tendencies are present in his fashion designs and art work alike. Its after this period of success that Noble has decided to debut at London Fashion Week for A/W 11. keeping true to his artistic integrity Noble is planning a collection which transcends fashion into art and sculpture, exhibited as an exhibition with elements of performance and ambitious installation. Matched with his signature contrast drawing concept and subversive narrative, Alex seeks to produce a fine collection of intensely crafted one off designs to be presented by Anna Trevelyan.
